This page sets forth the general tournament guidelines, rules, and player participant acknowledgements (aka “Conditions of Competition”) related to national tournaments and events made available by X-Golf America to customers who frequent X-Golf franchise locations across North America. Active national tournament activities by which these Conditions of Competition apply, may be found on playxgolf.com/tournaments. By registering or participating in X-Golf America national tournaments and events, or unless otherwise explicitly stated for a specific tournament or event, you accept and acknowledge that you are bound by these Conditions of Competition. Any questions regarding Conditions of Competition should be directed to X-Golf Staff or to the Competition Rules Committee at tournaments@xgolfamerica.com.
1 – Before Competitive Play Begins
It is the responsibility of Player Participants to have read the specific tournament or event details in addition to these underlying Conditions of Competition in their entirety before participating. Tournament or event details combined with Conditions of Competition constitute the “Official Rules” of a tournament or event. Player Participants should consult with X-Golf Staff for clarification or for any questions prior to participation.
2 – General Systems Setting & Defaults
All simulator settings and tournament conditions (i.e., game dynamics and calibration settings) will be set by the Simulator System, or by X-Golf Staff. Any tampering of these settings by Participant Players is grounds for disqualification with the exception to dynamic settings of Ball Speed based on X-Golf Location (acceptable Ball Ball Speed Settings between 100-104)
All competitors are limited to 1 Mobile App ID login per each attempt – Multiple logins under the same ID in the same session will not be allowed and result in disqualification of those rounds.
In the event of a system crash or power outage, X-Golf Staff should attempt to reload the round as it was left before the interruption through the Play button. Otherwise, X-Golf Staff should contact the Competition Rules Committee for instructions on how to proceed.
3 – Official Tournament and Event Results
Official tournament and event results will be tallied by X-Golf America Staff and will be posted via the X-Golf Mobile App, online via playxgolf.com, or some other means as determined by X-Golf America. Unless otherwise explicitly stated for a specific tournament or event, the lowest score completed is the winner. All competitive rounds are officially recorded by the System or by X-Golf Staff, and all scorecard(s) are subject to review, validation, and confirmation by the Competition Rules Committee before acceptance.
In the event of a tie following the Final Round, tied Individuals or Teams will be invited to participate in a Play-Off Round, the timing, format, and conditions for competition to be determined by the Competition Rules Committee and communicated to all appropriate participants prior to the Play-Off Round. The lowest score completed during the Play-Off Round will be the winner, if there is still a tie Matching scorecards version 1 or 2 will be used and relayed prior to the beginning of the Playoff Round.
Matching Scorecards – Version 1 (USGA Style) – Last nine holes, last six holes, last 3 holes, 18th hole. If still tied, front 9 in the same order. If still tied, will go to the previous round and repeat the same the procedure through the next previous round scores until a winner is determined – Version 2 – In 3-hole increments starting with the latest round tied, last 3, last 6, last 9, last 12 etc. all the way through the end of that round. If still tied, will go to the previous round and repeat the same procedure thru the next previous or original round score until a winner is determined.
X-Golf America reserves the right to review and to make any decisions as it relates to the application of tournament rules and/or final tournament or event results, All X-Golf America decisions related to tournament outcomes are final.
4 – How Handicaps Are Applied
Only the X-Golf Mobile App Handicap is acceptable to determine NET tournament scoring and NET competition eligibility.
Individual players must have at least 3 completed 18-hole rounds (combination of 18-hole and 9-hole stroke play rounds) as captured by X-Golf backend systems to be eligible to compete in Net tournaments or events. However, players with less than (3) 18-hole rounds may still be eligible to compete at the discretion of the Competition Rules Committee using a handicap determined by the Committee. All Committee decisions are final. The maximum handicap for any participating player at the start of a competition is “36”.
The Player Participant’s X-Golf Mobile App Handicap will be captured at the start of a Tournament or Event and used as the basis for scoring throughout. Any handicap disputes for the mobile app handicap needs to be made prior to the end of the round for which the dispute originated.
For Players with Top-5 finishing scores in more than one NET scoring event, only the best in-competition tournament scores from each round played will be used to determine the player’s handicap for future events within the past 12 months if lower than mobile app HDCP at the start of each tournament when the HDCP is captured. Players will be notified if their handicaps will be changed prior to posting a score in the next event.
All Top 5 players from the previous Individual event will use the lower of the following as their handicap for the current event. Their mobile app handicap at the conclusion of the final round from the previous individual event, or their current mobile app handicap at the start of the new event.
For the Final Round of any competition, a 30% weighting of the starting X-Golf Mobile App Handicap or assigned handicap, and 70% weighting of the 1st round net score, will be used as an adjusted handicap, if better than the accepted or assigned handicap from Round 1. All Final Round Handicaps will be published to all qualifying players before the Final Round. Example – Assigned or starting Hdcp = 10. The player shoots 6 over (-4 Net) in the Competition 1st round, that player then receives 30% of starting Hdcp (10 x 0.3 = 3) and 70% of 1st round score 6 (6 x 0.7 = 4.2). The 2 percentage values added together equal Final Round Hdcp (4.2 + 3 = 7.2 rounded down to 7, at 0.5 the number is rounded up). All Final Round Handicaps will be published to all qualifying players prior to the Final Round.
All Net scores will be limited to a -8 Exceptional Net Score max for any competitive round. For Players with less than 20 Completed 18 hole rounds (combination of competed 18-hole & 9-hole stroke play rounds, 360 Holes played) as captured by X-Golf backend systems at the start of any tournament or event who has scored an exceptional net score of -6 or better from the original handicap taken, the average of the exceptional net score and the lowest previous score as captured by the backend systems will be used to determine the handicap for that round. If the exceptional net score happens after a previous score is already posted within that round, the handicap will still be adjusted prior to posting the new net score including the use of the previous score posted.
Players with established handicaps (more than 360 holes played) who demonstrate dramatic swings in their handicap of more than 5 strokes from one tournament to the next, or within a 6-month window, are subject to having their Handicap re-evaluated and adjusted (similar competitors with less than 360 holes played) to protect against potential advantage.
The Competition Rules Committee reserves the right to reassign/readjust any competitor’s handicap, or suspend a player from participating should suspicious handicap activity be suspected at any time during competitive play.
5 – The Use of Mulligans During Competitive Play
Mulligans are NOT allowed other than for system errors that must be submitted are then only confirmed by the X-Golf Competition Rules Committee
Tournament or event participants may not use nor initiate a Mulligan without consultation with X-Golf Staff at any time during competitive play – doing so is grounds for immediate disqualification
There are 5 scenarios in which Mulligans are permitted for a System Error in tournament play and MUST be confirmed by a photograph sent to tournaments@xgolfamerica.com
(1) A shot or a swing is registered by the simulator without the ball being struck – X-Golf Staff should use the Mulligan Button to return the ball to the correct position without penalty.
(2) A simulator hardware error occurs, creating a “Moon Shot” where a shot is registered in a range that is not typical of the shot being hit at a maximum ball speed and a high launch angle that will not keep the ball on the hole – X-Golf Staff will use the Mulligan Button to reset play without penalty.
(3) A fringe shot was taken without ensuring that the appropriate club selection was selected on the system for accurate measurement (This may occur as Fringe Setting on the system is automatically set to PUTTER, and the player using an alternative club may not be aware or may have forgotten to change the club selection in the system before the shot) – X-Golf Staff may apply a Mulligan without penalty, but only once within a round during the Competition Round of any tournament or event. Should another instance occur within the round, the player must play where the ball it lies. A mulligan for this reason is not allowed at any time for rounds played during the Final Round of any tournament or event and the player must play the ball as it lies.
(4) If a Player inadvertently hits a shot out of turn, a Mulligan may be used to return to the original condition of play. This will however result in a 1 Stroke Penalty for each Mulligan required and will be added to the player’s final score – X-Golf Staff will use the Mulligan Button to reset play and must communicate the occurrence to the Competition Rules Committee.
(5) – Misread of a quality shot reported by the player due to a potential misread by the Spin Camera – X-Golf Staff must verify the Misread by reviewing the spin image via the following procedure:
- Go to MENU>ANALYSIS>SPIN TAB and review the image on the upper right hand corner.
- A misread has occurred when any less than 3 balls (for anything other than when Putter is selected) are captured on the spin image or when negative backspin numbers are present. If X-Golf staff are unsure of the procedure or if there is a misread on spin numbers please contact the Competition Rules Committee for a Ruling. Should a Misread be confirmed: A complete picture of the entire screen to include the missing or incomplete spin image & all launch dynamics numbers.
- X-Golf staff may then use the Mulligan button to reset play without penalty.
- X-Golf Staff MUST submit pictures of all Spin Images / Mulligans to tournaments@xgolfamerica.com. The Competition Rules Committee will validate system error(s) / Mulligan. Failure to submit a photograph will result in a minimum of 1 stroke penalty for each mulligan that can not be validated depending on where the previous shot came to rest. Players may be disqualified for serious breach of this rule.
The Competition Rules Committee may reverse any mulligan if the shot in question is deemed to be a miss hit ball or less than quality shot that caused the misread and will result in a minimum of a 1 shot penalty depending on where the previous shot came to rest.
For any competitive round, a maximum of 2 system errors per player when playing individual events and 2 per team when players are playing as a team. Excessive use of mulligans for system errors (3 or more) during any round can be an immediate disqualification of that round without proper explanation of system errors that took place, unless authorized by the Competition Rules Committee.
If a Mulligan is applied for any of the above reasons, X-GOLF STAFF MUST either contact the Competition Rules Committee immediately or Submit a photograph to tournaments@xgolfamerica.com along with details of the situation. Rules Committee Members will review the circumstance and the system data related, and will apply any scoring adjustments accordingly. All Rules Committee decisions and adjustments to scoring are final.
6 – Violation of Rules
Competitors that have been confirmed to violate any rules set in place by this document or any other document in relation to the rules will be subject to suspension from future events.
Individual(s)/ Team(s) – 1st occurrence = Tournament ban for 6 months, 2nd occurrence = Tournament ban for 1 Year , 3rd occurrence = lifetime Tournament ban
Location – 1st player/team occurrence = individual/team is suspended, 2nd same player/team occurrence = penalty/suspension will be at the discretion of the Competition Rules Committee
7 – Awarding of Prizes
Player Participants acknowledge that the awarding of prizes associated with tournaments or events is entirely and solely at the discretion of X-Golf America. Winning Players or teams will be notified and offered options for prize fulfillment.
X-Golf America reserves the right to offer the winners of tournaments or events an alternative prize other than the published prize, at equal or lesser value determined by X-Golf America. Any alternative prize offered by X-Golf America constitutes a final awarding offer to the winning Player Participant.
8 – Season Points
Players earn points based on their finish within the flight they qualified for and competed in during the final round of each event and those points are not transferable between flights. Any player who qualifies for the final round in one of the first 5 individual X-Tour events will receive points according to their finishing position within that flight. All ties receive equal points, except when a playoff is used to determine a winner.
At the conclusion of the first 5 events; the Top 20 players in the overall points standings in each flight, will have a chance to win the Grand Prize during the X-Tour Championship. If there is a tie for 1st place in total season points after the X- Tour Championship (for Grand Prize purposes), a Playoff Round will be required to determine the overall winner.
If two or more players are tied for 2nd or 3rd place after the X-Tour Championship, the tie will be broken using the following criteria, applied in order: (1) Most events played, (2) Most final rounds qualified for (3) Lowest total score vs. par in final rounds played with the players tied with, (4) Lowest single round score vs. par during the regular season. These tie-breakers ensure fairness and reward consistent participation and performance throughout the season.
